How You Can Help
There is a boundary realignment effort currently underway that will impact all of the elementary schools in the Westerville City School District.  Some of the boundary options being considered could impact 1,300 to 1,600 students.  The Westerville Board of Education has asked the Elementary Realignment Committee for recommendations with the goal of completing this process by Spring Break (March 25, 2013).

Many concerned citizens believe the Elementary Realignment Committee should have more time to consider all variables when making this important recommendation.  We are respectfully asking the board to halt the realignment until such time when the incoming superintendent, Dr. Kellogg, can provide additional input into this process.  We conclude that the creation of any new attendance boundaries - which triggers broad-scale realignment - should wait until Dr. Kellogg has time to gather stakeholder input and 1) develop a vision and implementation plan for elementary academic programming, 2) study the impact on academic performance and keep as many children unaffected as possible, and 3) consider how the middle/high school attendance boundaries factor into elementary realignment.
